What is Real Food?
It’s simple. Real Food is one-ingredient food such as an apple, broccoli, chicken, or banana. It’s usually recognized in a home kitchen and is easy to pronounce.
Real Food Tales invites you to rethink your eating habits, reduce sugar and UPFs, and return to the nourishing power of whole food ingredients.
Embrace a healthier, more sustainable approach to food for better overall health and wellness.

My grandparents, born in Italy, would never eat fast food even if alive today. They grew most of their own food and spices, and took great care preparing delicious-fresh foods. Whole nuts in shells were often on the table for cracking and snacking, fennel was served between courses to help with digestion, a large green salad was served with the meal, and baked-stuffed artichokes on holidays would melt in your mouth.

Telling the Real Food Story
If it’s about eating healthy it’s worth talking about. Real Food Tales is intended to enlighten people about what they are eating, how to make informed choices by reading the labels, and offer recipes with less sugar and minimal ultra processed foods.
- Is the food made of unknown ingredients that are hard to pronounce?
- Does it have nutritional value?
- How much sugar does it contain?
- Does it have more than 5 ingredients?
The total Recommended Daily Allowance of added sugar is
25-35 grams for an adult, or less than 10% of daily caloric intake.
Have we all been eating too much sugar while worrying about cholesterol, fat, and whether or not to eat bacon? At the very least people should be aware of how much added sugar they are ingesting per day and the facts about what sugar does to our bodies. Perhaps start learning about Diabetes or Pre-Diabetes and where that leads if unchecked in a few years. It’s not to late to eat better food, and usually the benefits start surfacing in less than a couple weeks.
